Now we're talking. The plants have all exceeded the tops of the towers. The stalks are thick and strong.
Attended the Mother Earth News fair in Puyallup this weekend and picked up Worm Tea from Sequim Prairie Star. It's made from organic worm castings. I'm going to use it to mist the potatoes, tomatoes, beans, cukes, squash and peppers each morning.

The tea is like a mist humus, if that makes sense and is known to increase plant growth and suppress harmful bacteria, fungi and plant pathogens. We can use all the help we can get from bacteria and fungi with our cooler, moist conditions. It's not a nitrogen, but more of facilitator helping the plant uptake more efficiently.
Looking good!! Our potatoes are growing, no blossoms yet.
ReplyDeleteHow was the fair? did you have a good time?
ReplyDeleteThe fair was fun. Good gardening classes and an entertaining "wabi sabi" class.
ReplyDeleteLots of vendors and give aways. So came home with seeds, portable planters that are really interesting and mobile (can't remember the brand name, but will shoot you a picture later). I will probably use them for tomatoes next year.
Also new magazine - Eating Well. Great recipes and lots of them. Mostly really informative. I went with my friend so we chatting all day. All i all a great day.
Some of our potatoes are flowering, I like Eating Well been awhile since I got it so signed up for a new subscription. I can't wait for some nice fresh potato salad. I am going to mix up some Neem Oil today to spray potatos and other, bugs starting to infiltrate the garden and orchard, darn varmints, and the deer they are big PITA'S (pain in the A..)
